This guide is not yet complete and to be updated from time to time.. please stay tuned..

To easily S-OFF your Desire HD, we are going to be using Easy Radio S-OFF tool since you can easily S-ON back. The other method which is ENG Hboot S-OFF method also works but you cant easily S-ON back your device unless you flashed via RUU. There are currently no RUUs available for SIS SET (1.32.707.5), so the current method is just to backup your own stock rom for you to restore back later when needed.

Read more to view the full guide :

Apart from this guide, here is the original guide taken from XDA.

1. You must have permaroot on your Desire HD.

2. Download Desire HD easy radio tool.exe via this link

3. Extract it into a folder on your desktop then run the .exe on your computer.

4. Connect your device as only charging and make sure its USB debugging enabled (settings>applications>development>usb debugging)

5. Click on the 1st option which is “Radio S-OFF, Super-CID and SimUnlock”. A super user popup request will appear. Click to allow it.

6. The tool will run under 20sec and if everything is good, it will say finished. You are good to go but make sure that you keep safe of the part7 backup which has been made in your SDcard.

7. To check S-OFF, switch off phone completely by removing battery out or disabling fastboot (settings>applications>untick fastboot)

8. Switch on phone via pressing Power + Volume down button for 3 sec until you see 3 android skating. At the top, it should now say ACE PVT SHIP S-OFF

9. If it is S-OFF, you can now download Rom Manager from the market then install clockworkmod recovery. Clockworkmod recovery is the tool to flash custom rom, backup and restore nandroids, wipe battery stats/cache/partition and etc.

To root HTC Desire HD, the simplest way is by using Visionary. Visionary is able to perform temporary root and also perma-root. Take note that Visionary no longer works on HTC’s Android 2.2.1 build for now (Visionary R14). It works fine for all base below 1.72 which is all Android 2.1 base.

A full read about Visionary to root Desire HD here : http://android.modaco.com/content/software/320350/19-nov-r14-visionary-one-click-root/

Steps :

(step 1->3 to temp root)

3. Your device is now rooted with temporary root! Congratulation woots!!! but it the root will dissapear after the phone reboots.

4. Open Visionary and tap temproot, then attempt permroot now. Your device will reboot.

5. To perma root the device, step 4 must be completed and now you can continue by tapping Permaroot (permanent root)

6. The device will now restart

7. Done, you have now permanent root on your device

Taking the EXIF data as a judgement, seems like its a 5MP device. Well perhaps sony is focusing more on gaming apart from the camera quality but still, its snappy.
